Deconstructing - Repurposing - Redesigning

a great way to save money is to repurpose materials from an old wreath. My customer had this wreath in her storage and it needed to be repaired and refreshed. I deconstructed the wreath, sorted through all the materials salvageable and then flipped it to a new design. All the yellow tulips were faded and half the greenery was brittle. Added some bright green ficus leaves, fresh bow and little bird. What change!!
Ukulele Lei

Here’s another first time creation for me. Well, I think I made this one several times with different types of elastic until I decided that the clear stretchy string worked the best for me. This ukulele lei is made with the elastic string, silk flowers and beads..and one flower has a little pink button in the center. I learned that there’s a particular way to string the beads in the center of the flowers so the flowers lay flat....facing forward. This was fun to make and it had me humming a Hawaiian song for daaaaaays! This lei turned out so...
Christmas Wreath on homemade Grapevine base

I was so excited for Christmas season. I've been wanting to design a Christmas theme on this 24x39 grapevine base I made earlier this year. Back in the summer a tree fell in our woods during a storm.....and we didn’t hear it...the tree. LOL. My husband said he found it on the ground and saw the grapevine growing in the top of it. He asked if I would like the grapevine for a craft......ummm YES! He pulled a lot of the vine out ....so sweet. We was able to make three oval wreaths.....yes he helped..that was also sweet of him....
Wood Block Birdhouses

Well you know how I like to repurpose....these were the black/white buffalo print Christmas block packages that was made out of the Fall block pumpkins. So these blocks have been used for three different designs. To make these birdhouses, I removed the black and white vinyl material, then painted the wood blocks white, painted on a fake round door opening and added the wood roof....wood was also repurposed from a privacy fence. Another season of cuteness!!
Merry Christmas Evergreen Wreath

This finished 31x31x9 "Refreshed" wreath was made from new and refurbished materials. To help maintain cost for my customers, I am sometimes able to reuse a customer's current wreath base and materials and add new decorative pieces to change the style or just freshen it up. For this one... I am using the customer's 28" evergreen base, the gold leaves and balls. I added a custom sign, additional gold lattice ribbon, some more balls and did a glitter refresh on existing balls and gold leaves. It turned out so big, bright and colorful!! The wreath is going to make a...
