Well ....this was probably the oddest customer order request I have had so far. Not that I don't know what a ladder is....I just never thought I would make one!! My customer wanted a step ladder for her decorative use. And she wanted it old and rustic looking. Hey, I'm up for the challenge. I mean I am quite familiar with wood, paint, stain, screws, ruler, saw and a drill ....oh and a little geometry!! Which I never liked geometry class, but I really do like it in crafting. This step ladder was made out of refurbished pallet wood and strips of scrap lumber. Probably the hardest part of this whole project was getting the angles cut correctly on the legs. It was a measure many times and recut several times before a got that ladder to not wobble. I painted the base with several coats of white chalk paint and then sanded to give it a distressed aged look. Then a good spray sealant to finish. I originally stained the top with a beautiful dark walnut, but the customer elected to have the top painted like the base since her coffee table has stain top on white base. Either way the ladder looks super pretty. Love how it turned out.
Who knew i could make a ladder!! You never know what you can do until you "step up" and try it. This was a really fun project and I'm glad i took on the challenge.
